3 More Reasons why the Ice Cream Sandwich Scores over the iOS
What every serial ‘texter’ needs – Faster texting and improved spell check
I bet you can’t get your hands off text messaging and always want the OS to work faster. Well, the ICS answers your wishes as now your text input will pick up the much needed speed, and what’s more, it will be faster as well. Think of the ‘spell-checker’ as having ‘Word’ like attributes and capabilities; this will give you an idea of all that the spell-check will do for you. Apart from locating and underlining the error a-la Microsoft Word, what it will also do is suggest words that can be a replacement for the same. All you need to do is tap to delete a word, replace it and do a whole lot more.
What this means is that your text messaging is faster, and more accurate.
Use your Voice to Perform Tasks
The voice input engine was also available on the Gingerbread, but the newest version of the Android OS has made it even more powerful. The voice input engine is a redefinition of the earlier user experience of this functionality and takes it to another level by making it a more continuous experience. This seamless voice input experience is because your voice is identified, accessed, assimilated and integrated by the OS in real time. So, what you say is immediately interpreted by the ICS. This is opposed to Siri, where users still have to wait for the iOS to interpret what they have said and then implement it.
While the Android OS has graduated from a style statement to being more productivity focused, the iOS lags behind in this aspect.
The Complete Range of Google Services
Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich aims to bring to you the complete Google Experience. So, if you are a Gmail user, its there on your phone, then you have Google Voice, Google Goggles is there if you need it, Google Earth is available and a whole lot more. So, essentially you have the whole Google universe on your mobile device. This is something big in itself. And I say this even though I don’t use half the services it provides.
Even though my post ends right here, this is not the be all and end all of the ICS benefits. There are plenty more, which I am sure will make this Android OS even more popular amongst users and also improve Android’s market penetration further.
