The Rise of Subscription-Video-on-Demand – Infographic
Television is no longer being viewed solely on the traditional television set, but rather via digital means as well. Streaming television shows and movies online is now common-place among younger consumers. This has given rise to a whole industry offering subscription-video-on-demand services, or SVOD for short.
The biggest and best known of these include Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. These SVOD providers are in a unique position and are perfectly poised to change the entire television industry as the digital TV and video sector is forecast to make $42 billion by 2020, at a worldwide level.
Consumers are driving this demand for digital television and are subscribing to these SVOD services. In fact, more than one in every two consumers now watch video content that is streamed and on-demand, on a daily basis.
